THE BRIEF/

The Government of Odisha, in partnership with UNFPA, launched the Shakti app. It’s a first-of-its-kind blockchain-powered initiative to support survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). The goal was to create a launch video that not only announced the app but also conveyed its dire need and transformative impact.

STRATEGY/

SYU Design worked on a video script that showcases the distress of a GBV survivor, trying to connect with people on a deeply human level. We scripted it in a way that reflects the survivor’s journey, highlighting delayed justice, emotional trauma, and institutional challenges. Meeting survivors and listening to their stories moved us immensely. We also consulted civil society and government officials, which helped us craft the advocacy film in a way that would impact even the most disengaged viewers.

Then, we introduced the Shakti app as a solution. The video provided a glimpse into the app’s interface while telling how it helps in swift, real-time coordination, ensuring the privacy and dignity of survivors. We concluded it with a powerful message for the government, civil servants and community to come together to drive real change.
